Facade Engineer

Job Title: Facade Engineer Level: Intermediate, Senior Industry: Facade Engineering Location: London, Home Counties Salary: £40,000 - £80,000 Role and Responsibility * Design and develop façade systems for commercial, residential, industrial, and mixed-use projects. * Prepare detailed façade engineering calculations, specifications, and technical reports. * Coordinate curtain walling, cladding, glazing, rainscreen, and structural façade elements. * Review architectural drawings and ensure façade systems meet project requirements. * Conduct structural and thermal performance assessments for façade components. * Ensure compliance with UK Building Regulations, CWCT standards, and fire safety requirements. * Collaborate with architects, structural engineers, contractors, and consultants throughout the project lifecycle. * Produce façade design solutions that balance aesthetics, performance, sustainability, and cost efficiency. * Support value engineering exercises to optimise façade systems and materials. * Review material selections including aluminium, steel, glass, composite panels, and insulation products. * Assist in the preparation of tender documentation and contractor packages. * Attend client meetings, technical workshops, and site coordination meetings. * Conduct site inspections to monitor installation quality and compliance with approved drawings. * Identify and resolve technical design issues during construction phases. * Review fabrication drawings and subcontractor submissions for technical accuracy. * Carry out wind load, thermal movement, acoustic, and water penetration assessments. * Liaise with suppliers and manufacturers regarding façade systems and performance criteria. * Ensure façade designs meet energy efficiency and sustainability targets such as BREEAM standards. * Support façade testing procedures including air, water, structural, and impact testing. * Maintain project documentation, calculations, and revision records accurately. * Assist with project programming, budgeting, and delivery deadlines. * Mentor junior engineers and provide technical guidance where required. * Stay up to date with façade technology advancements, legislation, and industry best practices. * Support health and safety compliance in line with CDM regulations and company policies. * Deliver projects to a high technical standard while maintaining client satisfaction and commercial awareness.
