Buyer

Abatec is assisting their client, a regional civil engineering and groundworks contractor that looks to strengthen their commercial & procurement team with an experienced Buyer. This is a hands-on procurement role, working closely with the Commercial and Operational teams to ensure projects are properly resourced, competitively procured and delivery efficiently. The successful candidate will be responsible for sourcing and purchasing a wide range of civil engineering and groundworks materials, whilst developing string relationships with suppliers and negotiating the best possible commercial terms. As Buyer you will: * Obtain and analyse supplier quotations and negotiate competitive rates * Source aggregates, concrete, drainage, utilities and general civils/groundworks materials * Monitor orders, deliveries and supplier performance * Work closely with Estimating and Commercial teams to ensure procurement aligns with project budgets * Develop and maintain strong supplier relationships * Resolve delivery, pricing and invoice queries * Ensure materials and services are available in line with programme requirements * Maintain accurate purchasing records and purchase orders Our client requires a Buyer with: * Previous experience as a Buyer / Procurement professional within civil engineering & construction * Experience within Groundworks (Advantageous) * Strong knowledge of construction materials and supply chains * Commercially aware with strong negotiation skills * Confident dealing with suppliers, subcontractors and internal project teams * Strong organisational skills with the ability to manage multiple projects and deadlines Salary/Benefits: * £35,000 - £45,000 Depending on experience * Car allowance * Company pension scheme * Additional company benefits If you would like more information, or to apply for this vacancy, please contact Lloyd Barham on (phone number removed).
