Job Summary:
We are seeking a reliable and detail-oriented Machine Operatives to join our clients production team. The successful candidate will be responsible for operating and maintaining machinery, including needle threading, basic machine programming, and monitoring product weights to ensure quality and compliance with production standards.
The pay rate starts at £12.76 per hour during the training period while employed through Major Recruitment.
Following successful completion of training and the transition to a permanent Technical Machine Operator role, employees will have the opportunity to progress through a structured pay grading system. Pay can increase up to £14.10 per hour, with progression based on competency, performance, and punctuality.
Shifts are Monday to Friday 6am - 2pm and 2pm - 10pm rotating weekly.
Overtime is paid at time and a half Monday to Saturday and double time up to 10pm on Sunday.
Key Responsibilities:
* Set up, operate, and monitor machinery in accordance with production specifications
* Thread needles and prepare machines for operational use
* Program and adjust machine settings based on job requirements
* Monitor product weights to ensure consistency and adherence to specifications
* Perform regular quality checks and inspections on finished products
* Identify and report any defects, inconsistencies, or equipment malfunctions
* Maintain accurate production records, including weight logs and machine settings
* Ensure work area and machinery are kept clean and safe at all times
* Follow company health and safety procedures and report any hazards or incidents
Requirements:
* Proven experience in a machine operative or production role
* Ability to thread needles and handle detailed, repetitive tasks with precision
* Basic knowledge of machine programming or willingness to learn
* Strong attention to detail and a focus on quality
* Ability to accurately monitor and record weights of products or components
* Good hand-eye coordination and manual dexterity
* Strong communication skills and the ability to follow written and verbal instructions
* Flexible and able to work as part of a team or independently
Desirable:
* Experience in textile, packaging, or manufacturing environments
* Familiarity with digital machine controls or programmable settings
* Basic mechanical aptitude and troubleshooting skills
£12.76 while training
