We are immersed in the transition from TETRA to LTE ESN services and developing challenging/complex radios (vehicle based and handheld devices with a vast array of support accessories) to support our customers.  We are seeking an experienced RF engineer to play a pivotal role in leading/mentoring the RF team and developing innovative products, leveraging their expertise in RF systems/electronics design. The ideal candidate will have a proven track record in RF product design, experience of leadership and/or mentoring a technical team, enjoy problem-solving, and be an excellent communicator.  Come and join Sepura Ltd at an exciting time of growth and progress your career within this product focused company, based in Waterbeach, Cambridge defining the next generation of communication devices. Role Your Main Responsibilities will include: Team Leadership & People DevelopmentLead and support a team of RF design engineers by: Allocating resources effectively in line with agreed priorities Providing strong technical leadership within the RF discipline Offering guidance and ensuring effective mentoring for junior team members Conducting performance management and personal development reviews Reinforcing/improving established department processes and contributing to the development of engineering standards   Technical Design & Delivery  Lead the technical design and specification of RF circuitry for radio terminal products, including: End to end subsystem design and implementation Integration with RF system (Fgen/RX/TX) and baseband/audio/MMI platform Component specification, evaluation, and sourcing Creation of design test documentation Schematic design and supervision of PCB layout  Systems & Project Responsibilities Analyse technical requirements and translate them into robust engineering solution/product architectures Resolve design and integration issues across multiple subsystems Support type approval activities throughout certification processes Provide technical assistance to end customers when required Deliver regular progress updates and reports to senior stakeholders Support the ongoing supply of existing product delivery  This role may require some travel, so the successful candidate will need a full, clean driving license, own car and valid passport. Travel expenses will be covered. What you need to succeed: Qualifications Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Electronics Engineering, Telecommunications, or a related field   Experience and Skills Significant experience in RF design (including discrete design) and development, ideally in telecommunications or critical communications Strong understanding of RF systems and technologies, including design, simulation, test methodologies and conformance Strong proven hands‑on design experience and practical engineering intuition Excellent communication and time‑management skills, with a track record of delivering high‑quality work on schedule Ability to maintain excellent interdepartmental links to ensure efficient product delivery Excellent problem-solving and analytical abilities Proven mentoring and leadership of team members.  Core RF Expertise RF Tx/Rx architectures RF receivers and transmitters RF power amplifiers EMC/EMI Frequency generators (VCO) Awareness of Antenna design & tuning Tools & Methods Understand and can mentor in RF simulation and modelling tools such as ADS, CST, or equivalent Clear methods/expectations for RF testing procedures and required facilities/outsourcing to deliver projects   Technology Domains - Strong experience in at least one of the following: TETRA/PMR – 100-900 MHz LTE/4G/5G – Sub 6GHz GSM – 800/900/1800 MHz   Collaboration & Project Skills Exceptional communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to work across multidisciplinary teams Awareness of other department needs and expected supply to ensure smooth project delivery Ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously and coordinate both internal and external resources    Nice to have: Experience with Professional mobile radio (PMR) systems GNSS – 1.0-1.6 GHz WiFi – 2.4-6GHz NFC Antenna design for portable products MIMO/5G including validation testingAnalog closed loop PA linearisation Automation of tests for efficiency improvements.
