Senior Estimator

We're supporting an established civil engineering contractor are looking for an experienced and commercially aware Estimator to Senior Estimator to join their team. This is an office-based role suited to someone who enjoys working collaboratively, taking ownership of tenders, and contributing to the continued growth of the business. You’ll play a key role in the pre-construction phase, producing accurate and competitive estimates from drawings and specifications across a range of civil engineering projects, particularly within local authority frameworks. What you'll be doing day to day: * Preparing detailed cost estimates from drawings and specifications * Reviewing tender documents and identifying key risks and opportunities * Liaising with suppliers and subcontractors to obtain competitive quotations * Collaborating with internal teams to ensure accurate and commercially viable submissions * Supporting bid submissions and contributing to tender strategy * Working closely with senior management to align estimates with business objectives * Managing multiple tenders and deadlines effectively What they are looking for: * 5–7 years’ experience within a civil engineering or construction estimating role * (HNC/HND/Degree in Quantity Surveying, Commercial Management, or similar) * The ability to price from first principles * Proven experience working from drawings and specifications at tender stage * Experience within local authority projects (highways, drainage, bridges, etc.) * Ability to hit the ground running and work with minimal supervision * Strong attention to detail and commercial awareness * A collaborative mindset and willingness to support and mentor others What's on offer: * £65,000 – £75,000 p/annum salary depending on seniority and experience * Full benefits package including health insurance, pension, death in service, car allowance, and 25 days holiday plus bank holidays * Long-term career stability within a growing business * Supportive, team-focused working environment * Opportunity to contribute to major growth plans
