HGV Mechanic/ Technician

The Role

We are seeking a skilled and motivated HGV Fitter / Trailer Technician to join our busy workshop team. While you will work across our fleet, this role has a strong focus on the service, inspection, maintenance, and repair of our modern fleet of temperature-controlled (refrigerated) trailers.

Key Responsibilities

Maintain & Repair: Carry out routine servicing, diagnostics, and repairs on HGV trailers, focusing heavily on refrigerated units
Inspections: Conduct scheduled PMI (Periodic Maintenance Inspections) to DVSA standards.
Fault Finding: Diagnose mechanical, electrical, hydraulic, and refrigeration system faults.
MOT Prep: Prepare trailers for annual MOT testing to ensure a first-time pass rate.
Compliance: Complete all job cards, service sheets, and maintenance records accurately using our digital fleet management system.

What We Are Looking For

Qualifications: NVQ Level 3 (or equivalent) in Heavy Vehicle Maintenance and Repair is ideal, but experienced, time-served fitters are strongly encouraged to apply.
Experience: Proven experience working as an HGV Fitter or Trailer Technician. Direct experience with transport refrigeration units.
Skills: Strong fault-finding skills across electrical and hydraulic trailer systems.
License: A full UK driving license is required. An HGV Class 1 (Category CE) license is a major plus but not essential.
Mindset: A safety-first approach with the ability to work efficiently under pressure in a fast-paced environment.

Shift Pattern:

4 on 4 off, 18.00 pm - 06.00 am (Nights)

Salary:

Up to £42,596 per annum
