Graduate Controls Engineer

Junior Controls Engineer 📍 North East 💰 £35,000 - £40,000 + Benefits 🕒 Full Time | Permanent CDM Recruitment are working with a well-established and growing engineering manufacturer to recruit a Junior Controls Engineer. This is an excellent opportunity for someone with PLC, controls or automation experience who is looking to further develop their career within a supportive engineering environment. The role offers exposure to the full project lifecycle, from design and development through to commissioning and technical support. Key Responsibilities: • Assist with the design and development of control systems and automation solutions • PLC programming, testing and modification • Produce and update electrical schematics and technical documentation • Support commissioning activities and fault finding • Work closely with Design, Production and Project teams • Provide technical support for existing products and systems • Participate in continuous improvement and product development activities The Ideal Candidate: • HNC/HND or Degree qualified in Electrical, Electronic, Controls or Automation Engineering • Previous experience within a controls, automation or electrical engineering environment • Knowledge of PLC programming (Siemens, Allen Bradley or similar) • Ability to read and interpret electrical schematics • Strong problem-solving skills and attention to detail • Keen to develop technically and progress within a growing business The Opportunity: • Salary circa £38,000 - £42,000 depending on experience • Exposure to a wide range of engineering projects • Genuine long-term career progression • Stable and growing business • Supportive engineering team and training opportunities
