Customs Clearance Agent Bolton Up to £35k basic salary (dependent on experience) + bonus after probation Our client is a growing logistics company specialising in freight movement between the UK and Ireland. Due to continued growth, we are looking for a Customs Clearance Agent to join our team and support our expanding customs operation. About the Role You will play a key role in ensuring the smooth movement of goods across borders, handling customs declarations and supporting customers through the import/export process. Key Responsibilities • Create and submit import, export, and transit declarations • Use systems such as Thyme IT / Descartes, CNS, and Destin8 • Ensure full compliance with HMRC regulations and UK/EU customs legislation • Accurately calculate duties, VAT, and other charges • Liaise with customers, agents, carriers, and customs authorities to resolve queries • Maintain accurate records and audit trails • Support continuous improvement in customs processes and service delivery Skills & Experience • Experience in imports, exports, or transit customs within freight forwarding, logistics, or haulage • Working knowledge of customs systems (e.g. Thyme IT / Descartes) • Strong understanding of UK and EU customs procedures • High attention to detail and ability to work under pressure • Strong communication skills and a professional approach Desirable (Not Essential) • Experience with post-Brexit customs processes • Relevant customs or logistics qualifications What They Offer • Competitive salary based on experience • Bonus after successful 6-month probation • Opportunity to grow within a fast-paced logistics business • Supportive and experienced team environment
