Grounds Maintenance Operative (x2) Ilkeston Full-Time | Early Finish Fridays Thorn Baker are recruiting for 2 Grounds Maintenance Operatives to join a local council’s Green Spaces team based in Ilkeston. This is a great opportunity for experienced operatives who are confident working across a variety of outdoor environments, helping maintain high standards across public spaces. Hours: Monday to Thursday: 07:30 – 16:00 Friday: 07:30 – 12:30 Pay: Weeks 0–12: £12.71 per hour Weeks 13–52: £13.90 per hour Weeks 52+: £14.13 per hour Duties include: Grass cutting across highways, open spaces, and cemeteries Operating pedestrian and ride-on mowers (rotary and cylinder) Using strimmers, hedge cutters, and other grounds maintenance equipment General upkeep of public green spaces Working safely and efficiently as part of a team What we’re looking for: Experience in grounds maintenance or similar outdoor roles PA1/PA6 certification (preferred) Competence using mowers, strimmers, and hedge cutters Chainsaw certification (desirable) Physically fit and comfortable working outdoors in all conditions Reliable, safety-conscious, and a good team player What you’ll get: Ongoing, full-time work Early finish every Friday Opportunity for long-term placement Apply now with your CV or contact Dan at Thorn Baker on (phone number removed) for more information.
