About the role

Our longstanding client is an award-winning organisation offering support to individuals with drug and alcohol problems in a range of settings including detoxification and residential rehabilitation, recovery housing, social enterprises and community based therapeutic services. We work in partnership with We Are With You, Stoke-on-Trent City Council to form the Community Drug and Alcohol Service (CDAS). We are recruiting staff for our new housing team working within our drug and alcohol service that will ensure our service users who have a number of housing needs, receive support to access and maintain suitable, stable accommodation whilst receiving high quality, recovery orientated and evidence based interventions to reduce harm and maximise opportunity for sustained health living As a peer support co-ordinator you will have relevant lived experience of substance misuse and or homelessness in order to support others going through similar experiences. * To share your lived experiences as appropriate in a positive way to create hope, aspiration and motivation to support service users to achieve their individual goals. * To support service users to gain more control over their lives and identify the right resources for their needs that provide them with the necessary tools to move on into independence and build social networks to support sustained recovery. * To create interventions and deliver meaningful activities to empower the recovery of individuals accessing SCDAS that are experiencing substance misuse and housing issues. * Carry out duties in line with organisational policies and procedures. This position is exempt under the Rehabilitation of Offenders Act 1974 and the successful applicant will be subject to a criminal record check from the Disclosure and Barring Service (DBS).
