Neighbourhood Engineer (M&E) - London – Circa £50,000 + Excellent Benefits| Permanent| Hybrid / Site Based  4 Days Home / Onsite 1 Day Office Based Monday to Friday | 35 Hours Emergency Call-Out Rota (Approx. Twice Weekly) | £150 Per Day Car User Mileage Paid Professional Development Support A major London housing provider is looking to appoint an experienced Neighbourhood Engineer (M&E) to join its compliance team, supporting thousands of homes across the capital. This is a genuinely varied, hands-on role for someone who enjoys being out on site, solving problems, improving services, and making a visible difference to residents’ safety and living standards. If you come from a strong mechanical or electrical background and want a role with autonomy, stability, and long-term progression, this is an excellent opportunity. The OpportunityYou’ll take ownership of inspecting and assessing M&E systems across residential properties, identifying faults, supporting compliance programmes, and ensuring contractors are delivering work to the right standards. The role combines technical expertise with stakeholder management, giving you the opportunity to work closely with residents, contractors, and internal teams while playing a key role in maintaining safe, compliant homes. You’ll be trusted to provide technical advice, review contractor performance, support planned maintenance programmes, and help drive service quality across a large and complex housing portfolio. Key Responsibilities • Carrying out site inspections across mechanical and electrical systems • Identifying faults, risks, and compliance issues • Producing technical reports and recommendations • Supporting planned maintenance and repair programmes • Reviewing contractor quotations and completed works • Providing technical guidance to operational teams • Supporting emergency callouts as part of the rota • Working closely with residents and stakeholders across occupied properties Essential Experience • Strong working knowledge of building services / M&E systems • Experience working within a mechanical or electrical trade “on the tools” • Experience managing contractors and site-based works • Ability to produce clear technical reports and specifications • Confident communicating technical matters to non-technical stakeholders Essential Qualifications / Certifications • Relevant trade qualification such as NVQ, City & Guilds, or Apprenticeship within a Mechanical or Electrical discipline • 18th Edition qualification desirable depending on discipline • Full UK driving licence Desirable Experience / Qualifications• Experience within social housing or residential property • Knowledge of asset management systems/software • HNC, HND, or Degree in Building Services Engineering or related discipline This is an opportunity to join a well-established organisation where your technical expertise will have a direct impact on resident safety, compliance, and service quality across a large and diverse housing portfolio.
