About the role
We’re looking for a reliable and adaptable Manufacturing Operative to join a busy, fast-paced manufacturing environment.
This is a varied, hands-on role suited to someone who enjoys being part of a team, is happy to turn their hand to different tasks, and takes pride in getting the job done properly. Rather than being based on one process or workstation, you’ll work as a generalist across the manufacturing operation, supporting different areas depending on production priorities.
You don’t necessarily need experience in every aspect of manufacturing. What’s more important is a strong work ethic, a practical approach, attention to detail and a willingness to learn.
As a Manufacturing Operative, your day-to-day responsibilities will be varied and may include:
Supporting production, assembly, packing and general manufacturing activities.
Operating machinery, equipment and hand tools following appropriate training.
Moving between different workstations and production areas as priorities change.
Preparing materials and components for production.
Carrying out basic assembly, finishing and quality-checking activities.
Packing, labelling and preparing finished products for dispatch.
Checking products against required quality standards and reporting any defects or issues.
Loading, unloading and moving materials safely around the production environment.
Keeping work areas clean, organised and safe.
Following production instructions, standard operating procedures and health & safety requirements.
Completing basic production records and paperwork accurately.
Working closely with supervisors, team leaders and other operatives to achieve daily production targets.
Helping colleagues in other areas when additional support is required.
Identifying problems and raising them quickly so that production can keep moving.
Taking an active role in improving efficiency, quality and ways of working.
We’re looking for someone who is:
Adaptable – comfortable moving between different tasks and areas of the operation.
Reliable – someone the team can depend on to turn up, contribute and maintain good standards.
Hands-on – happy working in a practical manufacturing environment.
Quality focused – able to follow instructions carefully and spot when something isn’t right.
Safety conscious – understands the importance of working safely around machinery, equipment and colleagues.
Team oriented – willing to help others and contribute wherever needed.
Comfortable working at pace – able to maintain accuracy and standards when production is busy.
Willing to learn – open to training and developing skills across different manufacturing processes.
Proactive – able to see what needs doing and get involved rather than waiting to be asked.
Previous experience within manufacturing, production, warehousing, assembly, engineering or a similar hands-on environment would be beneficial, but we’re equally interested in people with the right attitude and transferable skills
