Senior Motor Vehicle Technician

My client who is based in Aldershot are seeking an Motor Vehicle Technician to join their team. My client are a highly respected independent car service and MOT centre with a loyal customer base and a reputation for quality workmanship and honest service. This role is suited to a highly competent technician with strong diagnostic capability and the ability to work independently on complex mechanical and electronic systems.
Role Summary
The successful candidate will be responsible for carrying out advanced mechanical repairs, diagnostics, and servicing across a wide range of cars and light commercial vehicles.
You will work within a modern, well-equipped 5-bay workshop and play a key role in maintaining our technical standards and customer satisfaction.
Diagnose and repair faults on a wide range of petrol, diesel and hybrid vehicles.
Carry out complex mechanical repairs including:
Cylinder head repairs and valvetrain replacement
Timing belt and timing chain replacement (including wet belt systems)
Clutches, transmissions, braking systems (including ABS and electronic parking brakes)
Engine management and emissions systems
Service and repair modern emissions and aftertreatment systems including:
Diesel Particulate Filters (DPF)
Selective Catalytic Reduction (SCR)
AdBlue systems
Gasoline Direct Injection (GDI)
NOx traps and sensors
Accurately diagnose faults and clearly communicate findings to the service reception team to assist with estimates and job planning.
Confidently engage with customers when required to explain faults and repair work in a professional manner.
Complete servicing and repair work to manufacturer and Autodata/ICME standard times wherever possible.
Skills and Experience Required
NVQ Level 3 in Light Vehicle Maintenance and Repair (minimum requirement).
Minimum 10 years experience in a busy workshop environment.
Proven ability to work independently on complex diagnostic and mechanical tasks.
Strong understanding of modern vehicle electronics and emissions systems.
Excellent attention to detail and documentation.
Professional communication skills with both colleagues and customers.
Full UK driving licence.
