About the role
WeDoData are working with a forward-thinking further education college group who are split between 2 campuses who are looking for an experienced 3rd Line Support Engineer to join their Systems & Innovation team, providing expert technical support and helping shape the future of the IT infrastructure.
The Role
As a 3rd Line Support Engineer, you will act as the senior technical escalation point for complex IT issues, supporting a diverse infrastructure of on-prem and cloud-based technologies. You'll work closely with several departments across the college, lead technical problem-solving, contribute to infrastructure projects, and ensure systems remain secure, resilient, and fit for purpose.
Key Responsibilities
* Act as the escalation point for complex 2nd and 3rd line technical issues.
* Support and maintain Windows Server, Active Directory, Group Policy, DNS and DHCP environments.
* Manage and troubleshoot Microsoft 365 and enterprise applications.
* Monitor infrastructure performance, backups, patching and disaster recovery solutions.
* Support virtualisation platforms and cloud services.
* Participate in infrastructure upgrades, digital transformation projects and continuous service improvement.
* Produce and maintain technical documentation and knowledge base articles.
* Work collaboratively with internal teams and third-party suppliers to deliver high-quality IT services.
Essential Requirements
* Significant experience in a 3rd Line Support or Infrastructure Support role.
* Strong knowledge of Windows Server administration.
* Experience managing Active Directory, Group Policy, DNS and DHCP.
* Experience supporting Microsoft 365 and enterprise business applications.
* Knowledge & experience of VMWare
* Azure experience
* Experience with system monitoring, patch management and backup solutions.
Desirable
* Experience working within an education environment.
In return you will receive:
Salary: £40,000 - £44,000 per annum
Hours: Monday to Friday, 08:45 - 17:00
Location: Surrey (multi-site role)
