Senior Functional Consultant (D365 and Power Platform)

Role Overview

As a Microsoft Dynamics 365 CE and Power Platform Functional Consultant at Kainos, you will bridge the gap between IT capability and business expectations on Microsoft Dynamics projects. You will collaborate with clients to design and build solutions based on Dynamics 365 CE and Power Platform, including AI features, to deliver benefits for them and their customers.

Responsibilities

• Identify opportunities to make best use of the ever‑expanding platform features.
• Balance the benefits and risks of customisation, recommending the best approach to support client needs.
• Lead discovery workshops, create functional designs, configure solutions, support testing, assist with data migration, deliver training, and support implementation.
• Lead one or more functional consultants on small to moderate sized and complex projects, while on larger projects you may be a senior colleague leading others.
• Identify priorities, assign tasks, and maximise available resources and skill levels within the team to ensure project success.
• Build relationships with counterparts in other disciplines and manage dependencies between them.
• Coach and develop one or two junior colleagues, focusing on performance management, career development, wellbeing, and inclusion.

Minimum Requirements

• Expertise in Microsoft Dynamics and Power Platform products, with in‑depth knowledge of at least two of: Sales, Customer Service, Customer Insights, Field Service, Power Apps, Power Automate, Power Pages, Copilot Studio, and Power BI.
• Knowledge of AI features within Dynamics 365 CE and Power Platform and the ability to leverage them to deliver business benefits.
• Familiarity with related Microsoft products such as Exchange, SharePoint, and Teams, and ability to configure integrations.
• Experience in medium to high‑size and/or complex end‑to‑end implementation projects, including analysis, design, configuration, testing, training, data migration, cutover, and reporting.
• Ability to create and influence solution designs with a configuration‑first approach, using customisation only where essential.
• Demonstrated ability to showcase out‑of‑the‑box functionality to business and technical stakeholders.
• Proficiency in designing and building classic and Power Automate workflows to automate medium‑complexity tasks.
• Strong stakeholder engagement and communication skills, with experience eliciting, prioritising, and reviewing requirements from stakeholders at all levels.

• Experience teaching others how to convert business requirements into user stories with acceptance criteria.
• Self‑motivated research skills, knowledge sharing, and risk mitigation.
• Collaboration and timely issue flagging to avoid escalation.
• Knowledge of using DevOps for managing Epics, Features, User Stories, and Tasks, and utilizing DevOps to reflect sprint progress.
• Approachability and willingness to accept guidance, recognize workload limits, and maintain professionalism.
• Commitment to agreed standards of behaviour, speed, and quality, including respectful treatment of colleagues and customers.
