SMT Nights Operator

Shift Times:
Monday - Friday
22:00 - 06:00
Pay Rate:
£16.89 per hour (rising to £17.21 per hour after 12 weeks on site)

Overview of the Role:
We are seeking a reliable and detail-oriented Operator to join the SMT team on the night shift. This role involves operating machinery to build and test finished goods in a fast-paced manufacturing environment. You will be responsible for following Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs), meeting standard build times, and maintaining high quality standards throughout production.
This is a long-term opportunity offering stability, development, and progression for committed team members.
Key Deliverables and Responsibilities:
Operate machines and test finished goods in line with SOPs and standard build times
Carry out visual inspections to ensure products meet quality standards
Operate test equipment and accurately interpret pass/fail criteria
Maintain accurate production records and adhere to safety protocols
Participate in daily shift briefings and end-of-shift handovers
Work collaboratively within a team of approximately 10 colleagues under a structured shift management system
Skills & Qualifications:
Essential:
Experience operating machinery
Strong attention to detail and ability to follow written instructions in English
Good communication skills with the ability to retain and apply information
Physically capable of standing, bending, and undertaking light lifting
Comfortable working in a mixed seated and standing environment
Team-oriented with a reliable and positive approach
Desirable:
Previous experience in a manufacturing or production environment
Familiarity with APC or manual insertion processes
Experience using test equipment in a production setting
Background in similar industries or local production facilities
Additional Information:
