SEND Teaching Assistant – Leyland

Length of role: Temp to Perm starting September 2026

Pay rate: £14.25–£16.00 per hour

Setting: Mainstream Primary School

About the Role

You will be working within the SEND classroom of a mainstream primary school, providing dedicated 1:1 support to pupils with ASC and SEMH needs. This role requires patience, consistency and a genuine passion for helping children overcome barriers to learning. You’ll work closely with the class teacher, SENCO and wider support team to deliver tailored interventions and create a positive, structured learning environment.

Key Responsibilities

  • Provide 1:1 support for pupils with ASC and SEMH
  • Assist with personalised learning plans and behaviour support strategies
  • Help create a calm, safe and inclusive classroom environment
  • Support pupils with communication, emotional regulation and social development
  • Work collaboratively with teaching staff and external professionals
  • Contribute to progress tracking and pupil observations
