Senior Quantity Surveyor
Location: Dundee / Scottish Central Belt (Hybrid Working)
Salary: £62,000 - £70,000 + Company Car or Car Allowance + Private Healthcare + Pension + 25 days leave and bank holidays
An exciting opportunity has arisen for a Senior Quantity Surveyor to join the growing power division of a leading main contractor in Scotland. The project is a complex £150m high‑voltage power infrastructure scheme along the East Coast of Scotland, involving extensive upgrades and replacements to high‑voltage overhead lines that will support the UK’s transition to a more resilient and sustainable energy network. This role offers a chance to work on a landmark infrastructure project with a growing pipeline of multi‑million‑pound projects across Scotland.
The Role
Reporting into the commercial leadership team, you will be a key member of the project team responsible for managing the commercial performance of a major infrastructure project delivered under the NEC suite of contracts. A significant focus of the role will be the management of change, including the assessment, pricing and agreement of compensation events and variations, ensuring the project maximises commercial entitlement while maintaining strong client relationships.
- Commercial management of a major £150m infrastructure project
- Administration of NEC contracts
- Management and agreement of compensation events and change accounts
- Pricing and negotiation of variations
- Cost reporting, forecasting and cash flow management
- Subcontract procurement and commercial management
- Identification and management of commercial risks and opportunities
- Supporting project teams with commercial advice and guidance
- Preparation and presentation of commercial reports to senior stakeholders
- Ensuring robust commercial controls are maintained throughout the project lifecycle
About You
We are looking for commercially astute Quantity Surveyors who have experience operating within the infrastructure, civil engineering or utilities sectors and living within a reasonable commute of the Central Belt of Scotland.
- Experience working as a Quantity Surveyor or Senior Quantity Surveyor on infrastructure, civil engineering or utilities projects
- Strong NEC contract knowledge
- Experience managing compensation events, variations and change control processes
- Excellent commercial negotiation skills
- Strong reporting and forecasting capabilities
- The ability to build effective relationships with clients, subcontractors and project teams
- Excellent communication skills
- Infrastructure sector experience would be highly advantageous, although candidates from other sectors with strong NEC experience are encouraged to apply
Location & Flexibility
The role offers a flexible hybrid working arrangement, with attendance in Dundee required approximately once per week. Candidates based within reasonable travelling distance of Dundee are particularly encouraged to apply, although remote working elsewhere in Scotland is supported for the majority of the week.
