Location: West Thurrock Depot, RM20 3LB
Pay: £18 per hour | Up to £720 per week | Weekly pay
Hours: 40 hours per week
Shift: 14:00 - 20:00
Contract: Temp - Perm
About the Role
We are looking for a professional Class 2 Shunter to work on behalf of our client in West Thurrock on a temp to perm basis.
As a Class 2 Shunter, you will play a key role in the safe and efficient movement of vehicles within the depot, ensuring trailers and vehicles are positioned correctly to support smooth distribution operations. You will work closely with the Transport and Warehouse teams to maintain workflow and meet site objectives.
Key Responsibilities
Safely manoeuvre Class 2 vehicles within the yard and depot area.
Ensure vehicles and trailers are positioned correctly for loading and unloading.
Support yard operations, including loading and unloading activities where required.
Carry out daily vehicle checks and report any defects or issues promptly.
Maintain a clean, safe, and organised yard environment.
Liaise with Warehouse and Transport teams to ensure efficient operations.
Adhere to all health & safety regulations, company policies, and site procedures.
Support general depot duties as required.
Qualifications
Current and valid Category C Driving Licence (no more than 6 points)
Current and valid Driver CPC
Current and valid Digital Tachograph Card
Previous shunting or yard experience is preferred
Forklift licence (B1 Counterbalance) is desirable
Basic numeracy and literacy skills
Skills & Attributes
Strong awareness of health & safety in a yard environment
Good communication skills and ability to work as part of a team
Reliable, proactive, and able to use initiative
Strong attention to detail
Ability to work in a fast-paced environment
