Teaching Assistant

The Education Specialists are looking for an experienced Teaching Assistant to support young people age 14-16 years with Social Emotional and Mental Health needs (SEMH) to start after May half term. This position is long term until July with the opportunity to secure a permanent position with the school in September. This is an amazing opportunity to be part of a warm and welcoming team. About the Role In this role, you will: * Support students who may struggle with confidence, behaviour, or emotional regulation * Help children rebuild their relationship with learning, celebrating small steps and progress * Be a calm, positive role model—someone they can look up to and trust * Work alongside teachers, pastoral staff, and external professionals to provide consistent, compassionate support * Assist with classroom activities, small-group work, and individual interventions tailored to students’ needs What We’re Looking For The right person will be: * Genuinely committed to helping children re-engage and feel confident in school * Motivated and enthusiastic, bringing energy and positivity to each day * A strong role model, showing patience, resilience, and empathy * A team player, able to work closely with colleagues to provide a nurturing, structured environment * Understanding and supportive, recognising that each child’s journey is unique * Experience with SEMH or SEND is helpful but not essential—we value your attitude and your ability to connect with young people above all.
