Contracts Manager

Contracts Manager – Mechanical/HVAC – Permanent – Kent/London Our client, a well-established mechanical subcontractor, requires an experienced Contracts Manager to join the business at a senior level, reporting directly to the Managing Director. This is a fantastic opportunity for a proven Contracts Manager with a mechanical/HVAC background to take full ownership of project delivery from award through to completion, working across multiple concurrent projects. This is predominantly an office-based Contracts Manager role, working from either our client's Victoria or Kent office, with occasional site visits required as projects demand. The Role: As Contracts Manager, you will take commercial and financial ownership of mechanical and HVAC projects post-award, managing procurement, subcontractor selection, and applications while overseeing 2–3 smaller-to-medium sized projects at any one time. You will manage and support Project Managers, ensuring programmes are delivered on time and within budget, while maintaining strong design coordination throughout. Key Responsibilities: * Full project ownership from post-award through to completion * Financial management, procurement, and commercial negotiation * Subcontractor selection based on suitability, not just cost * Managing and supporting a team of Project Managers * Design coordination and overall project delivery oversight * Supporting health & safety on smaller projects without a dedicated PM What We're Looking For: * Proven, established experience already operating at Contracts Manager level within a mechanical subcontractor background — plumbing, pipefitting, heating, ventilation, and air conditioning (this is not a role for someone stepping up from Site Supervisor) * Experience gained with a similarly sized, medium-scale mechanical subcontractor * A track record of managing multiple projects simultaneously * Strong financial and commercial acumen * Experience managing and mentoring Project Managers * Stable employment history with solid tenure at previous companies * A credible, hands-on Contracts Manager who leads from experience The Package: * Salary: £65,000 – £85,000, dependent on experience * Company credit card * Company mobile and laptop * Pension scheme * 25 days holiday plus bank holidays If you're an experienced Contracts Manager from a mechanical/HVAC background looking for a senior, predominantly office-based role with genuine ownership and autonomy, we'd love to hear from you.
