Children's Palliative Care in Scotland is an exciting and rapidly developing field. The posts represent an ongoing partnership between NHS and CHAS to enhance the delivery of specialist paediatric palliative medicine throughout Scotland: a true cross system approach to delivering care. 2026 will mark some exciting developments in children's palliative care services. We have a skilled and passionate MDT and are looking forward welcoming the next generation of leaders within our field’ Dr Jonathan Downie We are delighted to offer an exciting opportunity to work as a Consultant in Paediatric Palliative Medicine across Children’s Hospices Across Scotland (CHAS) and Royal Hospital Children and Young People Edinburgh, NHS Lothian. This post represents the ongoing collaboration between CHAS and NHS Lothian to develop specialist paediatric palliative care services across all care settings. This is a substantive 10PA (inclusive of 2PA for on-call commitment) joint appointment for a Consultant in Paediatric Palliative Medicine (PPM). The post holder will be a member of both CHAS services covering the national on-call service and providing onsite care at NHS Lothian and Rachel House Children’s Hospice (CHAS). The post holder will provide senior medical delivery of palliative care to infants, children and young people with life limiting and life-threatening conditions within the children’s hospices, hospital, and community. The post holder will be expected to contribute to the strategic development of paediatric palliative care across Scotland, including the delivery of education, training, and research. Interviews will likely take place at the Royal Hospital Children and Young People Edinburgh week commencing 8 June 2026
