The Opportunity
An established organisation is seeking an Employee Relations & Policy Manager to lead on complex employee relations casework, policy development, and HR compliance. This is a varied and influential role, balancing approximately 60% employee relations case management and 40% policy development and governance.
Working closely with senior stakeholders, you will provide expert guidance on a broad range of HR matters, helping to foster a supportive, inclusive, and solution-focused working environment.
Key Responsibilities
Lead and manage complex employee relations cases, including disciplinary, grievance, performance, absence management, organisational change, and TUPE matters.
Provide expert advice and coaching to managers on sensitive and high-risk people issues.
Develop, review, and implement HR policies and procedures, ensuring alignment with employment legislation and organisational values.
Support and develop HR colleagues, promoting consistency and best practice in employee relations management.
Analyse employee relations trends and provide insights to inform strategic decision-making.
Build strong relationships with key stakeholders, including employee representatives and trade unions.
Deliver training and workshops on employee relations, workplace behaviours, inclusion, and people management.
Support organisational change initiatives and help ensure a positive employee experience throughout periods of transformation.
Monitor legal developments and implement legislative changes into policies and working practices.
About You
We're looking for a proactive and commercially minded HR professional who can build credibility and influence at all levels.
You will ideally have:
A Level 7 HR qualification (or equivalent experience).
CIPD membership or a willingness to work towards it.
Significant experience managing complex employee relations casework.
Strong knowledge of UK employment law and current HR best practice.
Experience advising managers on change management, restructuring, and TUPE processes.
A track record of developing and improving HR policies and procedure.
Experience working in partnership with trade unions and employee representatives.
Excellent communication, stakeholder management, and coaching skills.
Strong organisational skills with the ability to manage competing priorities
Experience using HR systems and Microsoft Office applications.
