About the role
Trainee CAD Technician Location: Ashbourne, Derbyshire
Permanent | Full-Time
Are you technically minded, good with computers and interested in building a career in CAD and design ?
The Agency is working with a well-established manufacturer in the Ashbourne area that is looking for someone to join its technical team in a Trainee CAD Technician position.
This isn't a role where you're expected to arrive knowing everything. You'll be joining an experienced team who will teach you the products, systems and technical knowledge you need to become confident in the position.
We're therefore open to different backgrounds. You might have studied engineering or design, used CAD at college or university, or already have some experience in a technical environment and be looking for your next step.
What does the job involve? You'll spend your time working with drawings and project information, turning requirements into accurate designs that can be used by other areas of the business.
As your experience grows, you'll be involved in:
Creating and updating drawings using AutoCAD
Working from measurements, specifications and other technical information
Checking drawings carefully for accuracy
Making changes to designs as projects develop
Working with colleagues across design, manufacturing and other departments
Learning how products are designed and manufactured
Preparing technical information required by the wider business
Keeping projects and drawing information organised
Managing your own workload and deadlines
Taking on more responsibility as your technical knowledge develops
Who would this suit? We're not looking for years of experience.
More important is someone who is accurate, switched-on, comfortable using computers and genuinely interested in learning a technical role .
You could come from an engineering, construction, architecture, manufacturing, product design or similar background, but we're happy to consider other routes too.
Some previous exposure to AutoCAD or CAD software would be beneficial, whether that's through work, education or personal projects.
You'll also need:
Good attention to detail
Confidence working with numbers and measurements
A logical approach to problem solving
Good computer skills
The ability to organise your workload
Clear communication skills
A willingness to learn from more experienced colleagues
Why consider it? This is an opportunity to learn a technical profession rather than simply take another job .
You'll be given training and support while you develop your CAD and design skills, with the opportunity to take on increasingly complex work as you gain experience.
For someone who enjoys technical work and wants a career with genuine room to develop, it could be an excellent next step.
Location The role is based on-site in the Ashbourne area .
Due to the location, public transport options are limited, so you'll need to make sure you have a reliable way of getting to and from work each day.
Interested?
Apply today and The Agency will be in touch to tell you more about the opportunity and answer any questions you may have.
