Curriculum Lead – Alternative Provision Bristol £32,916 - £51,048 + TLR Full-Time | Permanent September Start Are you an experienced educator passionate about transforming outcomes for young people who struggle to thrive within mainstream education? We are recruiting for an exceptional Curriculum Lead to join a specialist Alternative Provision in Bristol supporting Key Stage 3 and 4 students with Social, Emotional and Mental Health Needs (SEMH), behavioural challenges and additional learning needs. This is a fantastic opportunity for a passionate teacher or middle leader looking to step into a role where they can genuinely influence curriculum design, student engagement and whole-school impact. About the Provision The provision supports students who require a more personalised and nurturing approach to education. Many learners accessing the setting have experienced barriers within mainstream education and benefit from a highly supportive environment focused on re-engagement, emotional wellbeing and positive outcomes. The curriculum is designed to be flexible, inclusive and responsive, combining academic learning with enrichment, vocational pathways and therapeutic approaches. The school places a strong emphasis on: Relationship-based practice Trauma-informed approaches Emotional regulation Positive behaviour support Personalised learning Student wellbeing and reintegration The Role As Curriculum Lead, you will play a key leadership role in shaping and delivering an engaging and adaptable curriculum that meets the diverse needs of students within the provision. You will work closely with teaching staff, pastoral teams and senior leaders to ensure students receive high-quality learning experiences that promote progress, confidence and long-term success. Key Responsibilities Leading curriculum planning and development across the provision Supporting teachers with lesson delivery, assessment and engagement strategies Developing creative and personalised learning opportunities Monitoring student progress and outcomes Promoting inclusive and trauma-informed teaching practices Supporting behaviour for learning and student wellbeing Coaching and mentoring staff members Building positive relationships with students, families and external professionals The Ideal Candidate We are looking for an individual who: Has experience working within Alternative Provision, SEMH or SEND settings Is passionate about supporting vulnerable young people Has strong curriculum knowledge and leadership ability Can build positive and consistent relationships with students Understands behaviour as communication Is resilient, adaptable and solution-focused Has a commitment to inclusion and educational equity Applications are welcomed from candidates with Primary or Secondary backgrounds.
