Job Title: Electrical Supervisor – HMP (Prison Estate)
Location: HMP Highdown (SM2 5PJ)
Salary: Competitive / £230-£250 per day (DOE)
Hours: Monday to Friday, 8:00am – 4:00pm

About the Role
We are seeking an experienced and motivated Electrical Supervisor to lead and oversee electrical installation, maintenance, and repair works within the prison estate. The successful candidate will be responsible for supervising electrical operatives, ensuring works are completed safely, efficiently, and in full compliance with industry regulations and site security requirements.
This is an excellent opportunity to join a long-term public sector project, delivering essential infrastructure works within a secure environment.
Key Responsibilities
* Supervise and coordinate electrical installation, maintenance, and repair activities.
* Manage day-to-day operations of electrical teams on site.
* Ensure all works are completed in accordance with BS7671 and relevant health and safety regulations.
* Conduct quality inspections and oversee testing and commissioning activities.
* Allocate workloads and monitor productivity to ensure project deadlines are achieved.
* Provide technical guidance and support to electricians and apprentices.
* Complete and review relevant job documentation, risk assessments, and reports.
* Liaise with site management, clients, contractors, and other trades.
* Ensure adherence to prison security procedures and site-specific protocols.
* Identify and resolve technical issues and site challenges efficiently.
Requirements
* NVQ Level 3 Electrical Installation (or equivalent).
* 18th Edition Wiring Regulations (BS7671).
* ECS / JIB Card.
* Proven experience in a supervisory role within electrical installation or maintenance.
* SSSTS or SMSTS qualification preferred.
* Testing & Inspection qualification (2391 or equivalent) desirable.
* Strong understanding of health & safety legislation and site compliance requirements.
* Excellent leadership, communication, and organisational skills.
* Ability to pass enhanced prison security vetting.
* Full UK driving licence preferred.

Important Information
All applicants must be able to pass prison security vetting prior to commencing work. Previous experience working within prisons, secure establishments, MOD sites, or similar environments would be advantageous but is not essential.
