About the role
The Role:
Silcom Recruitment are pleased to be supporting a well-established and highly successful independent automotive retailer based in the Reading area, who are looking to appoint an experienced PDI Technician to join their busy vehicle preparation team.
This is an excellent opportunity to join a large and fast-paced automotive operation, working across a varied stock of both cars and light commercial vehicles.
Responsibilities & Requirements of a PDI Technician:
Carry out pre-delivery inspections on a wide variety of cars and light commercial vehicles.
Complete vehicle safety and mechanical checks to ensure vehicles meet the required preparation standards.
Carry out routine servicing, maintenance and minor mechanical repairs where required.
Inspect key vehicle components including brakes, tyres, suspension, steering, fluid levels and general mechanical condition.
Identify and report any additional mechanical or repair work required before vehicles are approved for sale.
Work closely with the wider preparation, workshop and sales teams to ensure vehicles are completed efficiently and ready for customer handover.
Maintain accurate records of inspections and completed work.
Ensure all work is carried out efficiently, accurately and to a consistently high professional standard.
Previous experience working as a PDI Technician, Vehicle Technician, Service Technician or similar automotive role would be highly advantageous.
Experience working across both cars and light commercial vehicles would be beneficial.
NVQ Level 2/3 in Light Vehicle Maintenance & Repair, or an equivalent automotive qualification, would be advantageous but is not essential for candidates with suitable practical experience.
A good understanding of vehicle mechanics and the ability to identify mechanical defects is required.
A valid UK driving licence is essential.
The Package:
Salary: Up to £32,000 basic + bonus £40,000 OTE
Hours: Monday – Friday with a Saturday rota.
