Location: Bury St Edmunds
Hours: Minimum 30hrs/wk (over at least 3 days)
Rota: Day shifts / Weekend rota participation required
Salary: £33,000 per annum FTE
About the Role:
An exciting opportunity has arisen for a motivated and compassionate Registered Veterinary Nurse to become Senior Surgical & Anaesthesia Nurse at Swayne & Partners Bury St Edmunds.
This role offers an excellent opportunity for an RVN looking to expand their knowledge and clinical experience within a fast-paced hospital environment. Our practice benefits from advanced facilities allowing nurses to be involved in more advanced diagnostic and surgical procedures.
You will have the opportunity to utilise your nursing skills fully across theatre and anaesthesia, supporting advanced surgical procedures and developing your clinical expertise within our hospital environment.
Key Responsibilities:
- Deliver high standards of patient care
- Monitor anaesthesia and support surgical procedures
- Clinical lead for anaesthesia standards
- Develop and update anaesthetic protocols
- Train RVNs and students in anaesthesia
- Introduce new monitoring techniques/equipment
- Audit anaesthetic records
- Lead morbidity discussions where appropriate
- Support theatre efficiency
- Provide advanced anaesthetic support for complex cases
- Support diagnostics including imaging, CT, and laboratory work
- Maintain accurate clinical records
- Provide excellent client communication and support
- Work collaboratively with vets, nurses, VCAs, and reception teams
- Contribute to maintaining xwzovoh high clinical and hygiene standards throughout the practice
About You:
- Qualified and registered RVN
- Is a positive role model and can lead by example
- Has excellent communication and organisational skills
- Works well independently and as part of a team
- Is proactive, adaptable, and compassionate
- Demonstrates a strong commitment to patient care and clinical excellence
- Has an interest in developing advanced nursing skills
- Able to commit to at least 30hr week across a minimum of 3 days and participate in the weekend rota.
