The Job Reporting to the Managing Director, the Factory Manager will: Drive daily production activity and ensure agreed plans, priorities and targets are delivered.
Maintain a visible presence on the factory floor, providing clear direction and holding employees accountable.
Improve production flow by addressing bottlenecks, delays, stoppages and inefficient working practices.
Introduce practical processes, performance measures and standard operating procedures.
Establish clear supervisory structures, responsibilities and reporting lines.
Lead, motivate and develop factory employees, including managing performance, attendance and conduct.
Strengthen employee training, skills development and cross-training.
Maintain high standards of product quality, health and safety, housekeeping and machinery maintenance.
Provide clear reporting and advice to the Managing Director on factory performance, staffing and future investment.
The Person The successful candidate will have: Strong experience managing employees within a shop-floor manufacturing environment.
A proven record of improving production performance and delivering production plans.
Experience of improving workflow, productivity, quality and operational discipline.
The confidence to set clear standards and manage performance, absence and employee-relations issues.
Practical knowledge of manufacturing health and safety and quality management.
Experience of developing employees, team leaders or supervisors.
A calm, organised and decisive leadership style.
The ability to introduce change while gaining the support of the workforce.
A genuinely hands-on approach and the motivation to build and improve an operation rather than simply maintain it.
