Mechanical Engineer Location: Co. Tipperary Salary: €21 p/hr Type: Full-time, Permanent Industry: Food Manufacturing / Engineering Our client, a leading food manufacturing organisation, is seeking an experienced Mechanical Engineer to join their engineering team at their abattoir facility in Co. This is an excellent opportunity for a mechanically skilled engineer to join a well-established organisation and play a key role in maintaining and improving the reliability and performance of the site's machinery and equipment. The Role As a Mechanical Engineer, you will be responsible for carrying out planned and reactive maintenance across the site, ensuring equipment operates safely and efficiently while minimising downtime. Carry out preventative and reactive mechanical maintenance on production machinery and equipment. Diagnose and repair mechanical faults efficiently to minimise production downtime. Perform inspections and routine maintenance on plant and machinery. Support the installation, commissioning and maintenance of new equipment. Identify recurring mechanical issues and implement solutions to improve equipment reliability. Work closely with the wider engineering and production teams. Ensure all maintenance activities are carried out in accordance with health & safety and company procedures. Maintain accurate maintenance records and report issues as required. Requirements Mechanical Engineering qualification or relevant mechanical maintenance experience. Previous experience working in a manufacturing, production or industrial environment. Strong mechanical fault-finding and problem-solving skills. Experience with pumps, conveyors, motors, gearboxes and other industrial machinery would be advantageous. Ability to work independently and as part of a wider engineering team. Previous experience within the food manufacturing or abattoir industry would be beneficial but is not essential. 21 per hour Full-time, permanent position.
