A specialist digital consultancy delivering large-scale transformation programmes across government and defence is looking for a Chief Combat Systems Engineer to help shape the future of mission-critical naval technology.

This is a senior leadership role focused on next-generation submarine combat and weapons systems, combining technical depth with strategic influence across complex engineering programmes.
Responsibilities:
- Leading and mentoring engineering teams delivering advanced combat and weapons systems
- Driving the adoption of modern engineering practices and cloud-based technologies within highly secure environments
- Providing technical oversight across the full systems engineering lifecycle
- Working closely with senior stakeholders across engineering, delivery and client functions
- Balancing hands-on technical input with strategic programme leadership
- Ensuring systems are secure, resilient and built to operate in complex operational environments
- Supporting the evolution of delivery capability across large-scale defence programmes
Qualifications:
- Strong background in naval combat systems or defence weapons systems engineering
- Proven experience leading high-performing engineering or technical teams
- Hands-on knowledge of modern cloud technologies and engineering approaches
- Experience operating within secure, air-gapped or disconnected environments
- Strong communication and stakeholder management skills
- Ability to influence at both strategic and technical levels
- Experience working within highly regulated or mission-critical programmes
- Active DV clearance preferred, or SC clearance with eligibility for DV
