What you will be doing

We are looking for an experienced and commercially minded Buyer to join our growing team at BPA.

This is a key role within our manufacturing operation, responsible for ensuring materials, tooling, subcontract services and other production requirements are sourced effectively and available when required to support customer delivery schedules.

Working closely with Production, Engineering, CAM, Quality, Stores and senior management, you will manage a busy and varied purchasing workload within a fast-paced precision engineering environment where priorities can change quickly and lead times are often tight.

You will be confident managing multiple suppliers and purchase requirements simultaneously, negotiating commercially, maintaining strong supplier relationships and ensuring the business receives the right materials and services at the right quality, cost and delivery.

Key Responsibilities

• Manage the day-to-day purchasing requirements for the business across materials, tooling, consumables, subcontract services and other manufacturing requirements.
  
• Raise and manage purchase orders, ensuring accurate pricing, quantities, specifications and delivery dates.
  
• Source materials and components in line with production schedules and customer requirements.
  
• Work closely with Production Planning and Engineering teams to understand upcoming demand and ensure materials are available when required.
  
• Manage multiple purchasing priorities and urgent requirements within a fast-paced manufacturing environment.
  
• Develop and maintain strong relationships with existing suppliers while identifying and onboarding new suppliers where required.
  
• Negotiate pricing, lead times, payment terms and commercial agreements to achieve best value for the business.
  
• Monitor supplier performance across cost, quality and delivery.
  
• Proactively chase suppliers and identify potential supply issues before they impact production.
  
• Support the sourcing of specialist materials and subcontract processes required for precision engineered components.
  
• Ensure purchased materials and services meet relevant customer, engineering and quality requirements.
  
• Maintain accurate supplier, pricing and purchasing information within company systems.
  
• Review purchasing trends and identify opportunities for cost reduction, improved lead times and supply chain efficiencies.
  
• Support stock management and work with Stores to maintain appropriate inventory levels.
  
• Support new product introduction and new customer projects by identifying suitable suppliers and securing competitive quotations.
  
• Ensure purchasing activity supports ISO 9001 processes and internal quality procedures.
  

What We Are Looking For

Requirements

• Proven experience working as a Buyer, Purchasing Coordinator or Procurement professional within a manufacturing or precision engineering environment.
  
• Previous experience within Motorsport, Automotive, Aerospace, Defence or advanced engineering would be highly advantageous.
  
• Strong understanding of purchasing within a fast-paced manufacturing business.
  
• Experience sourcing engineering materials, components, tooling and subcontract services.
  
• Good understanding of engineering materials and manufacturing processes.
  
• Ability to work closely with technical teams and understand engineering drawings, specifications and manufacturing requirements.
  
• Strong supplier management and negotiation skills.
  
• Commercially aware with a strong understanding of cost, quality and delivery.
  
• Excellent organisational skills with strong attention to detail.
  
• Confident working in an environment where priorities and customer requirements can change quickly.
  
• Strong communication skills and the ability to build effective relationships with suppliers and internal teams.
  
• Good IT skills and experience using ERP/MRP or purchasing systems. xwzovoh
