Senior Manager, Accounts Technical Reading, Berkshire | Office based Location: Reading, Berkshire (office based) Salary: Competitive, depending on experience Contract: Permanent, full time Qualification: ACA, ACCA or QBE If you're the person your team comes to with the tricky ones (group consolidations, foreign-owned subsidiaries, awkward FRS 102 points), this Senior Manager role in Reading puts that expertise right at the centre of the job. ABOUT THE FIRM My client is a well-established Reading office that's part of a large UK and Ireland accountancy and business advisory group. You get the relationships and pace of a local practice, with the technical resources and specialist colleagues of a much bigger organisation behind you. THE ROLE This is a technical senior manager role rather than a big portfolio job. You'll look after a small portfolio of complex clients yourself, but a lot of your time goes on being the team's go-to reviewer: stepping in on the difficult files, sorting out the technical questions, and making sure work is right before it goes out. You'll also have a real say in how the office grows. WHAT YOU'LL BE DOING Managing a small personal portfolio of complex accounts and CT returns Reviewing team files and carrying out ad hoc technical reviews Handling consolidations, UK subsidiaries of overseas groups and FRS 102 technical points Reviewing complex VAT returns and CT600s, and liaising with auditors Getting involved in business valuations, plus business and personal tax planning Overseeing the bookkeeping function at a supervisory level Contributing to business planning and helping grow revenue and profit WHO THIS WILL SUIT ACA, ACCA or QBE qualified Ideally 3+ years post-qualification experience in practice Strong technical accounts knowledge, especially FRS 102 and group work CTA or ATT would be a bonus, but isn't essential A confident leader and communicator, comfortable with directors and clients Commercially minded and keen to use technology to work smarter WHAT'S ON OFFER A technical leadership role with influence over how the office develops A smaller personal portfolio, so you have time for review and technical work 25 days' holiday plus bank holidays, with the option to buy up to 5 more Office closure over Christmas Life assurance at 4x salary, pension, and enhanced family leave and sick pay Flexible benefits, including dental and critical illness cover GET IN TOUCH If you're a technically strong manager or senior manager in the Thames Valley and fancy a role built around your expertise, I'd love to hear from you.
