About the role
SEN Teaching Assistant
Prospero Teaching is looking for a patient and enthusiastic SEN Teaching Assistant to support pupils in the Andover area. This role involves working closely with children who have additional needs, including autism, ADHD, learning difficulties, communication needs, and social or emotional challenges.
You will provide consistent, tailored support to help pupils engage with learning, build confidence, and feel supported throughout the school day. This role is ideal for someone who is passionate about working with children and making a positive impact on their development.
Support may be delivered on a 1:1 basis or within a classroom environment, depending on the needs of each pupil and setting.
The Role:
Provide 1:1 support and small‑group assistance to pupils with SEN
Support pupils during lessons, activities, and transitions
Assist with emotional regulation, confidence‑building, and behaviour support
Help adapt learning tasks to meet individual needs
Work closely with teachers, SENCOs, and support staff
Encourage independence, engagement, and social development
Maintain a calm, structured, and supportive learning environment
Follow safeguarding and school policies consistently
Ideal Candidate:
Experience working with children or vulnerable individuals
Calm, patient, and confident supporting additional needs
Strong communication and teamwork skills
Able to build positive, trusting relationships with pupils
Adaptable, reliable, and proactive
Passionate about supporting children who need additional guidance
Backgrounds in care, youth work, support work, or education welcomed
Contract Details:
Position: SEN Teaching Assistant
Location: Andover
Start Date: ASAP
Working Pattern: Full‑time/Part-time, term‑time
Pay Rate: £14.66 - £15.66 per hour
Contract: Ongoing
Key Stages: Primary or Secondary
Experience, Training & Safeguarding:
SEN or child‑support experience desirable
Safeguarding training can be provided
Understanding of SEN strategies beneficial but not essential
