Autism Support Teaching Assistant

Job Duties: Provide support to students with autism in a special needs secondary school setting Assist in teaching life skills and promoting independence Manage behaviours that challenge in a calm and professional manner Work with non-verbal students to facilitate communication Required Qualifications: Experience working with individuals with autism Understanding of secondary education curriculum Ability to handle and de-escalate challenging behaviours Experience: Prior experience working in a similar role within an educational setting Knowledge and Skills: Knowledge of autism spectrum disorders and interventions Strong communication and interpersonal skills Ability to work effectively within a team Preferred Qualifications: Additional training in autism support or related field Experience working with non-verbal individuals Working Conditions: This role involves working in a school environment with students with autism. The position may require some flexibility in working hours to accommodate school schedules. All applicants will require the appropriate qualifications and training for this role.
