Please read the information in this job post thoroughly to understand exactly what is expected of potential candidates.
A supportive, high-achieving secondary school in Enfield is seeking a driven and enthusiastic Science ECT to join their well-established Science department from September 2026. This is a permanent Science ECT role within a school rated Good by Ofsted, offering an excellent foundation for an early career practitioner ready to commit to a school that invests seriously in the teachers it develops.

About the School
This Enfield secondary school delivers a broad, well-sequenced Science curriculum across KS3 and KS4, with strong GCSE outcomes and a department that takes genuine pride in the quality of its teaching. Lessons are built around subject expertise, deliberate practice, and high expectations - with every Science ECT supported to develop their classroom presence and subject confidence from day one. Behaviour is managed through clear, consistent whole-school systems that create focused, purposeful learning environments. STEM enrichment including science clubs, university visits, and industry links gives pupils a genuine sense of where great Science can take them.

What the School Offers
A structured ECT induction with a dedicated Science mentor and formally protected development time each week
A reduced first-year timetable that builds progressively as confidence and competence grow
A collaborative Science team with shared planning, open resources, and genuine peer support
Whole-school CPD grounded in research-informed practice with clear pathways into subject leadership
A school that actively tracks and supports the wellbeing of its early career staff alongside their professional development

The Role
As a Science ECT, you will teach across KS3 and KS4, planning well-structured lessons that build pupils' scientific knowledge and practical skills progressively over time. You will use formative assessment to adapt your teaching, contribute to departmental planning, support STEM enrichment activities, and develop the trusted relationships with pupils and families that underpin long-term impact as a Science ECT in this school.

What the School is Looking For
This permanent Science ECT position will suit candidates who:
Hold British QTS or are in the final stages of a UK-accredited teacher training programme
Graduated with a 2:1 or above in a Science discipline from a reputable UK university, ideally Russell Group
Have secondary school teaching experience through UK placements or an ECT year with evidence of structured lessons and measurable pupil progress
Are confident working within an established whole-school behaviour framework
Are legally entitled to work in the UK - visa sponsorship is not available

Applications are open to candidates completing or having recently completed formal UK teacher training only.

Salary & Contract
Outer London MPS: £37,870 to £50,474, with UPS up to £56,154. Salary reflects ECT status on appointment with clear progression throughout induction.
If you are a committed Science ECT looking for a permanent Secondary Teaching Opportunity in a school that will back you from day one, this Enfield role is well worth a closer look.
