The business delivers Facilities Management, Small Works, Mechanical & Electrical services and full project delivery, with a culture built around quality, trust and long‑term relationships.You will be joining a team of six within the M&E department and will work closely alongside the Mechanical Project Manager, giving you direct involvement in live projects, tender strategy and pre‑construction planning. The division is expanding, offering genuine long‑term progression as the workload and team continue to grow.Ideal for an experienced Mechanical Estimator or a mechanically‑biased professional who understands how HVAC and mechanical building services fit together and wants to step further into pre‑construction.The RoleThe Mechanical Estimator produces accurate, competitive mechanical cost estimates from initial enquiry through to tender submission. Projects typically range from 50k to 2m, covering commercial units, warehouses, light industrial sites and general contracting schemes. Around 7–8 tenders are live at any one time.You’ll work closely with project managers, engineers and procurement teams, ensuring estimates align with client requirements and commercial objectives. This role suits someone who enjoys being part of a close‑knit team within a business that is actively scaling its M&E offering.Key ResponsibilitiesEstimating & TenderingAnalyse drawings, specifications and tender documentsPrepare take‑offs, BOQs, schedules and detailed cost breakdownsLiaise with suppliers and subcontractors to secure competitive quotationsIdentify risks, exclusions and value‑engineering opportunitiesPrepare compliant tender submissions to agreed deadlinesSupport feasibility and early‑stage pricingCollaboration & SupportWork alongside the Mechanical Project ManagerCollaborate with project managers, engineers and procurementAttend pre‑ and post‑tender meetingsSupport handover of successful tenders to delivery teamsCommercial & FinancialMaintain pricing records, quotations and cost databasesEnsure estimates reflect current market conditionsMonitor material and labour cost trendsCompliance & StandardsEnsure estimating activity meets company procedures and industry standardsStay up to date with mechanical building services regulationsIdeal CandidateExperienced Mechanical Estimator within commercial, industrial or FM environmentsStrong understanding of HVAC and mechanical building servicesConfident interpreting drawings and specificationsCommercially aware with experience in cost analysis and value engineeringExcellent numeracy, analytical and IT skills (Excel, Enzy or similar estimating tools)Strong communication and negotiation skillsAble to manage multiple tenders and deadlinesDetail‑focused, proactive and solutions‑drivenFull UK driving licenceWork EnvironmentOffice‑based in BuckinghamshireOccasional site visits, supplier meetings and client briefingsPrivately owned contractor with clear growth plansJoining a business investing heavily in its M&E divisionPackage & Benefits45,000–70,000 depending on experienceExcellent bonus structureEstablished contractor with a growing M&E businessStrong pipeline of commercial and industrial workLong‑term progression as the department expands
