Job Title: Clerical / Administrative Officer (Court Clerk)
Location: Newport, NP18 2LX
Assignment Length: Temporary until 31st December
Pay Rate: £12.86 per hour, rising to £13.25 after 12 weeks
Working Hours: Full-time, Monday to Friday (37 hours per week)
Working Pattern: Fully onsite
Start Date: ASAP
About the Role
Brook Street is proud to be recruiting on behalf of a public sector organisation for a Clerical / Administrative Officer to support a busy court environment in Newport.
This is a varied and rewarding role where you will be at the heart of court operations, ensuring hearings run smoothly while providing essential administrative support.
Key Responsibilities
- Clerk and support court hearings (both in-person and remote via CVP)
- Meet and greet court users, guiding them through the process
- Set up and manage hearing rooms, ensuring all IT and equipment are operational
- Verify documentation and follow structured scripts during proceedings
- Liaise effectively with judiciary and court staff
- Prepare files and complete general administrative duties
- Carry out back-office support tasks as required
About You
We are looking for a confident and organised individual with a proactive approach to work. You will demonstrate:
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills
- Good IT literacy, including Microsoft Office
- Excellent organisational skills and attention to detail
- Confidence working in a professional, public-facing environment
- A flexible and reliable attitude
- Ability to work both independently and as part of a team
Desirable (but not essential):
- Previous administration or customer service experience
Additional Information
- Full training will be provided on the job
- Enhanced DBS clearance is required for this role
- Please note there is no on-site parking available
