Are you a materials engineer looking for new opportunities and challenges in establishing materials sustainability within engineering design? Then the School of Engineering Computing and Mathematics (SECaM) at the University of Plymouth could be the place for you!About the role:We are seeking to appoint a Lecturer in Engineering Materials to enhance and strengthen our research and teaching capacities in the areas of metals, alloys, nanomaterials, polymers, elastomers, ceramics and composites for the applications in mechanical engineering, marine engineering, naval architecture, and composites engineering.You will :be encouraged throughout teaching, research and recruitment activities to maximise the benefits gained from the university’s wide range of test facilities. These include our Materials Analysis, Characterisation and Testing Laboratory, Nanomaterials and Devices Laboratory, Composites Engineering Laboratory, Energy and Sustainability Laboratory and the Digital Fabrication Laboratory.take responsibility for leading and managing these activities, while reporting to members of the school leadership team and working with staff from across the university.take an active approach to interdisciplinary and multi-disciplinary teaching and research collaborations and will be able to demonstrate external collaborations with the potential for generating impact.work to design and deliver innovative teaching on these topics that prepares and inspires undergraduate and postgraduate students to pursue careers in the engineering sectors.
This teaching should reflect the focus on experiential learning at the University of Plymouth.
