Senior Engineer

Jobs for Humanity is collaborating with Kier to build an inclusive and just employment ecosystem. We're looking for a Senior Drainage Engineer to join the Kier Design team in Cardiff (remote working available with occasional travel to the office). The position requires 37.5 hours per week with some flexibility. We are unable to offer certificates of sponsorship for this role.

Responsibilities

• Support the Drainage team in delivering design solutions across water, flooding, and drainage projects.
• Work on diverse and impactful projects including Local Authority initiatives, National Highways schemes, and major projects such as the A66 Northern Trans-Pennine and A417 missing link.
• Assist the Drainage Lead in delivering a portfolio of projects to established standards, timelines, and budgetary constraints.
• Build and maintain strong relationships with clients and statutory bodies to ensure project success.
• Lead technically challenging drainage projects and provide innovative, sustainable solutions.
• Coordinate daily tasks, check deliverables, and ensure quality standards are met.
• Mentor, coach, and share expertise to support the team's development.
• Manage project delivery within programmes and budgets, raising concerns promptly.

Qualifications

• 8+ years of experience leading diverse drainage projects.
• Strong background in highway drainage, water utilities, and working with Lead Local Flood Authorities.
• Proficiency in InfoDrainage and AutoCAD Civils3D.
• Civil Engineering degree (or similar) and membership with a relevant engineering body.
• Clear communicator who enjoys collaboration and team development.
• Transferable skills welcomed; not all boxes need to be ticked.
