Payroll Advisor (Enterprise)Aberdeen or Glasgow | 30,000 to 32,000 | Hybrid workingThe Opportunity Our client, a well-established professional services firm with a long track record of advising organisations across a range of sectors, is looking for an experienced Payroll Advisor to join its Enterprise payroll team. This search is being run on a confidential basis; full details of the business will be shared with shortlisted candidates.This is a strong next step for someone who already has solid payroll experience and is ready to take on more responsibility: advising clients directly, supervising junior colleagues, and getting involved in more technical and complex payroll work.What You'll Be DoingAdvising clients on a range of payroll and compliance matters, applying your technical knowledge across different scenarios to meet their needsProcessing complex payrolls and researching solutions to technical problems, escalating where neededReviewing and issuing client output with a good degree of autonomy, while keeping risk front of mindBuilding genuine relationships with clients and their teams, and spotting opportunities where the firm could support them furtherDelegating and managing workflow across the team, making sure junior colleagues understand what's expected and are supported to deliverReviewing the work of junior colleagues, giving feedback, and helping develop their skillsKeeping on top of payroll legislation changes and helping implement updates to processes as neededReviewing and sending payment runs in line with audit requirementsMaintaining clear, accurate process documentation for your client portfolioTesting software updates and liaising with providers when issues come upActing as a first point of contact for more junior team members needing day-to-day guidanceContributing to monthly control reviews as part of the wider audit processGetting involved in process improvement initiatives across the teamWhat We're Looking ForExperience & qualificationsRelevant professional qualifications, plus Higher/A-Level or equivalentA degree is preferred but not essentialAround 3 to 4 years' relevant payroll experience, ideally in a similar advisory roleExperience managing a client portfolio and working to tight deadlinesSome experience of technical compliance and advisory workExperience supervising or mentoring junior staff is an advantageSkills & attributesStrong organisational skills and excellent attention to detailConfident written and verbal communicatorComfortable with Microsoft Outlook, Word, Excel and payroll softwareA natural problem-solver with sound knowledge of relevant payroll legislation and best practiceA team player who builds good relationships at all levelsSelf-motivated, able to work on your own initiative and turn ideas into actionWhy Apply This is a genuinely varied role with a clear path for progression.
