Maintenance Engineer

Overview

Our client is a leading steelwork fabrication company involved in the industrial, commercial and agricultural markets supplying steel framed structures all over the UK. The company also supplies cladding, decking, concreting and general building works.

Responsibilities

• Ensure that the facilities, layout and machinery used to produce new and existing materials and goods run at maximum efficiency and output.
• Carry out total preventative maintenance and manage breakdowns of mechanical, electrical and robotic equipment (including software programming).
• Manage people, budgets and cost reporting.
• Report to the Production & Works Manager.
• Design maintenance strategies, procedures and methods.
• Perform routine scheduled maintenance work and respond to equipment faults.
• Diagnose breakdown problems.
• Fit new parts and verify that equipment is working correctly.
• Conduct quality inspections on jobs.
• Arrange specialist procurement of fixtures, fittings or components.
• Control maintenance tools, stores and equipment.
• Monitor and control maintenance costs.
• Deal with emergencies, unplanned problems and repairs.
• Improve health and safety policies and procedures.
• Work with specialist equipment such as CNC saw, drilling and plasma equipment.
• Ensure risk assessments are carried out individually and departmentally.
• Ensure compliance with health, safety and environmental requirements.
• Maintain continuous coverage of machinery and equipment in case of breakdowns.

Qualifications

• Demonstrated technical knowledge relevant to mechanical, electrical and robotic maintenance.
• Ability to work well under pressure and manage multiple priorities.
• Experience working at heights.
• Overhead crane experience.
