About the role
OverviewOur Client is a leading, long-established multijurisdictional Trust and Corporate Service Provider. Their IOM office is now seeking an experienced Client Accountant to join the client accounting team.The Client Accountant will provide accounting and financial reporting services to a portfolio of clients, preparation of periodic financial reporting in accordance with relevant accounting and industry standards and providing assistance and advice on accounting related matters generally. Liaison with clients, external accountant and auditors as necessary. Duties will include:Manage the recording of financial information and preparation of financial statements for an allocated portfolio of entities with completion in a timely manner and in accordance with the relevant jurisdictional client accounting policy and proceduresMaintain accurate day to day client ledgers, ensuring all transactions are in-line with source documentation, of complex transactions, flow of funds, multi-currency for all cash and non-cash transaction on the company's accounting software (Viewpoint)Keeping up to date accounting records for client entities, paying particular attention to bank statements, agreements, invoices, contracts and other documents signed by an entityLiaising with the Administration Team on accounts queriesPreparing annual financial statements, solvency tests, asset statements and other ad hoc financial reporting with accuracy and completeness together with additional reporting to meet deadlines for tax returns and jurisdictional annual filingsPreparation of tax returns for UK property holding with HMRC, IOM tax returns and any other relevant tax returnProviding first contact technical assistance to the accounting team as requiredMaintaining an awareness of changes to the relevant financial, legal and regulatory framework within which the company operatesMeet internal deadlines whilst maintaining a high attention to detail, accuracy and consistency across all client's financial records within the relevant jurisdictional accounting software, and MS Excel for checklists and additional schedulesUpdate accounts monitoring systemComplete and input time in the time billing system dailyThe ideal candidate for the role of Client Accountant will hold:A relevant qualification (e.g., ACCA) or a minimum of 3 years' experience in a similar rolePreferably Fiduciary experience of accounting for company and trust structuresEffective communication skills - both verbal and writtenHave an enquiring mind, being able to question, research, apply and share learningHigh level of accuracy, initiative, exceptional organisational skills, and proficiency in accounting software, and MS Excel to Intermediate or higher levelAbility to pick up and adapt to various bespoke IT/accounting systems and banking platformsAbility to work under pressure and meet tight deadlinesExcellent team player and willing to go the extra mileAbility to deal with complex issues in a timely and proactive manner
