Commercial Account Handler

A well‑established independent insurance broker on the outskirts of Blackburn is continuing to grow and is now looking to appoint an experienced Commercial Account Handler to support their Broker and wider client portfolio. This is a close‑knit, sociable team where personality matters just as much as technical ability. They work collaboratively, celebrate success, and offer genuine long‑term progression for someone who wants to develop their career. You’ll work closely with the Broker and Director, gaining visibility, autonomy and hands‑on development that you simply don’t get in larger corporate environments. The role is predominantly office‑based, though alternative arrangements may be considered for the right person. This is a full time permanent position with a salary of up to £35,000 depending on background and experience. The Role You’ll play a key part in supporting the Broker across a varied commercial portfolio, ensuring clients receive a seamless, professional service. Responsibilities include: * Managing incoming enquiries and arranging new policies * Handling renewals, mid‑term adjustments and new business administration * Preparing reports, insurance documentation and client presentations * Arranging renewal and new business meetings for the Broker * Managing the claims process and keeping clients updated * Maintaining accurate client records and data * Negotiating with insurers to secure the best terms, coverage and pricing * Building and maintaining strong relationships with clients and insurers What We’re Looking For * 2–3 years’ experience in a commercial insurance account handling role * Strong understanding of commercial products and insurer markets * Acturis experience (highly advantageous) * Confident communication and negotiation skills * Ability to manage a busy workload with accuracy and professionalism * Someone proactive, team‑focused and keen to progress * Ambition to gain professional qualifications What’s on Offer * Performance related bonus * Support toward professional qualifications * Direct mentoring from the Broker and Director * Clear progression opportunities as the business continues to grow * A friendly, sociable and supportive office culture * Free parking and strong public transport links * Full support is provided If you’re an experienced Commercial Account Handler looking for a role where you’ll be valued, trusted and given room to grow, this could be the ideal next step.
