GSL Education are seeking reliable and proactive Cover Supervisors to work in schools across Barnsley. As a Cover Supervisor, you will step into classrooms across a variety of subjects, ensuring pupils remain engaged and productive with pre-set work. This is an ideal role for someone looking to build meaningful classroom experience, explore a future in education, or simply make a positive contribution to school life on a flexible basis. Responsibilities: Supervise classes in the absence of the class teacher across a range of subject areas Implement pre-prepared lesson materials and keep students focused on assigned tasks Create and maintain a calm, orderly, and respectful learning environment Manage pupil behaviour in accordance with the school's policies and procedures Offer support and guidance to students as they work through set activities Communicate any concerns, incidents, or issues to the appropriate teaching staff Contribute to a safe, inclusive, and welcoming classroom atmosphere Requirements: Prior experience working with children or young people is desirable The confidence to manage a classroom independently and assertively Strong communication, interpersonal, and organisational skills A practical ability to follow lesson plans and instructions with minimal direction A dependable, adaptable, and positive approach to every school day A genuine commitment to supporting young people's learning and wellbeing An Enhanced DBS on the Update Service (or willingness to complete a new application) Please be advised that this role requires a strong knowledge and understanding of safeguarding and child protection, and successful applicants must satisfy all background safer recruitment checks, including providing an enhanced DBS certificate registered on the update service or completing a new application.
