Governance Lawyer

East Midlands

Remote working

£55-70 per hour

Sellick Partnership are currently recruiting for a fantastic opportunity for a Governance Lawyer at a reputable Local Authority based in the East Midlands. This a locum position, offering remote working and the liklihood of a long term contract.

The successful interim Governance Lawyer will support on a range of governance matters across the Council, including but not limited to:

• Advising on the legal requirements and limitations of a committee system of governance (including area committees)
• Advise committees and Full Council around lawful decision-making and good governance.
• Assist with the handling of complaints relating to the member code of conduct and the Police and Crime Panel
• Advising on the legal requirements of the Council's constitution and contributing to a review of the constitution
• Contributing to/advising on/reviewing/drafting policy documents and protocols connected with the operation of the constitution and the committee system
• Advising on local government constitutional and administrative law
• Attending meetings as required

The successful Governance Lawyer will have previous local authority experience of constitution and governance matters.
