Strategic Sustainability DirectorLocation: Glasgow (hybrid / flexible)Level: Senior leadershipA well-established sustainability and built environment consultancy is making a deliberate investment in growing its UK presence, with Scotland and Glasgow at the centre of that strategy.As part of this growth, they are seeking a Strategic Sustainability Director to take a leading role in shaping, growing, and ultimately owning the sustainability offering.This is not a delivery-only role.It is a senior, commercially focused leadership position with genuine influence over strategy, people, and growth.The OpportunityLead and grow a sustainability business unit with full senior backingPlay a key role in business development, client relationships, and market positioningShape service lines, identify diversification opportunities, and drive long-term profitabilityBuild, manage, and develop high-performing teamsAct as a trusted advisor to clients, senior stakeholders, and the boardYou will work closely with Directors and the Managing Director, contributing directly to company-wide strategy, financial performance, and future direction.Key ResponsibilitiesBusiness Development & GrowthDrive lead generation and sales activity across sustainability and ESG servicesDevelop and maintain strong client relationshipsRepresent the business at industry events, networks, and professional forumsIdentify and pursue new market opportunities and partnershipsCommercial & Financial LeadershipTake responsibility for financial performance, KPIs, and growth targetsSupport cashflow forecasting, invoicing, and commercial risk managementManage overheads, margins, and resourcing to ensure sustainable profitabilityLeadership & OperationsLead teams and act as Project Lead on key commissionsSupport recruitment, performance management, and professional developmentMaintain high standards of quality, compliance, and governance across projectsQuality, Compliance & GovernanceEnsure projects meet internal quality, profitability, and regulatory standardsUphold ISO, Health & Safety, and internal systems complianceReport regularly to the Managing Director and BoardAbout YouOperating at Director, Associate Director, or Practice Lead levelCommercially minded, with a strong track record in winning work and growing servicesComfortable managing people, budgets, and senior stakeholdersTechnically credible within sustainability, ESG, carbon, or climate-related servicesA natural leader who enjoys building teams and shaping strategyChartership or relevant professional membership is expected, along with a commitment to maintaining CPD.Why Apply?Genuine autonomy and influenceStrong senior backing and realistic growth expectationsOpportunity to build something, not just inherit itLong-term progression and leadership visibilityInterested?Applications and enquiries will be handled confidentially.Salary:90,000 - 100,000Location:Glasgow Type:permanentSUBMIT CV
