To ensure a viable, efficient, and reliable energy future for all.Job DescriptionProject Lead EngineerThis role focuses on technical leadership and assurance, ensuring engineering designs and construction activities meet required standards for both onshore and marine systems.ð Key PurposeYou’ll lead engineering delivery, ensuring projects are safe, compliant, and aligned with stakeholder and operational requirements.ð ️ Key Responsibilitiesð· Lead multi-disciplinary engineering work packagesð§‍ð« Guide and support Project Engineersð§­ Deputise for the Engineering Manager when neededð Work with Project Managers, consultants, and contractorsð¡ Support design decisions & optioneeringð Develop scopes of work and define requirementsð§ Capture user & stakeholder requirementsð Technical & Delivery Dutiesð Review and approve designs, drawings, and documentationð️ Ensure designs meet client standards️ Assess risk assessments, method statements & contractor plansð Provide technical oversight during construction/deconstruction𧪠Oversee commissioning/decommissioning activitiesð§ Ensure compliance with Health, Safety, Environment & Quality (HSEQ)ð Collaboration & Communicationð️ Liaise with stakeholders throughout the project lifecycleð Represent the organisation in meetings and presentationsð§‍ð» Work closely with BIM/CAD teamsð Attend site in Helensburgh to build strong working relationshipsð Additional Contributionsð Support training and knowledge sharingð Assist with project close-out activitiesð¡ In ShortYou’ll act as the technical leader driving engineering quality and delivery, ensuring projects are well-designed, compliant, and successfully executed from concept to completion.Qualifications Essential Skills & Experienceð Degree in Civil/Structural Engineering (or related field)ð️ Strong civil/structural engineering knowledgeð§ Experience designing & assessing:Steel structuresReinforced concrete structuresð Knowledge of British Standards & Eurocodes️ Understanding of UK nuclear regulations & best practiceð Experience across the full engineering lifecycle:Concept design ð¡Detailed design ðConstruction ð️ð Background in heavy industrial and/or maritime structuresð§‍ð§ Experience in the UK nuclear sector (energy or defence), especially:Safety-related structures, systems & componentsð Proven project engineering experience, including:Work package deliverySite integration in regulated environments Desirable Skills & Experienceð Ability to work independently and within teams️ Strong understanding of compliance in regulated industriesð Experience writing & reviewing technical documents (reports, calculations, drawings, specs)ð️ Skilled in stakeholder communication & coordinationðº Basic health & safety training for site workð Chartered Engineer status (MICE / MIStructE)️ Knowledge of:Nuclear safety cases ðSafety committees / authorisation groupsð¡ In ShortThey’re looking for a technically strong civil/structural engineer with nuclear experience who can lead complex projects, ensure compliance, and deliver safe, high-quality engineering solutions.Additional InformationStaff or umbrella contract roleSC Clearance to startSole UK nationals onlyWe are committed to equal treatment of candidates and promote, as well as foster all forms of diversity within our company.
