We add value with our people, client service ethos, global delivery strategy, technical ability, and attitude.We are now seeking a Principal Public Health Engineer to join one of our UK offices (London, Bicester or Newcastle).Role ResponsibilitiesResponsible for the running of large projects. Undertakes a client facing role in the development and design and coordination of engineering project services for Mechanical or Electrical installations, systems, equipment, facilities etc. (Several building types) Develops and specifies applications of controls, instruments, and operating systems for all building engineering services purposes Surveys, tests, carries out dilapidation reports on existing electrical/mechanical installations Specifies activities to ensure that manufacturing, construction, installation, and operational testing confirm to functional specifications and customer requirements Day to day decision making on project progress and direct liaison with and provides advice to client Represents Company at technical meetings with customers, professional teams and contractors teams Ensures engineering calculations and drawings meet required robust industry and legal standards Leads on the coordination of engineering services Takes a holistic view in the selection and application of engineering concepts and solutions Role RequirementsMSc/BEng Qualified or have sufficient equivalent experience in the field of Public Health designMinimum of 7 years’ experience with strong expertise in Public Health Engineering (water services, gas, above ground drainage and sanitation systems, rainwater disposal system design and fire suppression installationsKnowledge and experience of sustainable design including solar hot water systems, rainwater/grey water recycling innovationsExperience across mission critical/ data centre (highly desirable), commercial and mixed-use developmentsProven track record, working for large international consulting organisation within the UK or overseas, on major design projectsWorking knowledge of core technical guidance published by CIBSE, British Standards, ISO, BSRIA, HSE and CIPHECompetence in fire protection design is essential and experience with international standards such as EN, VdS, NFPA and FM highly desirable.Good knowledge of current standards and design codes essentialGood working knowledge of MS outlook, Word, Excel, Bluebeam, NAVIS.Advantageous to have a good knowledge of AutoCAD and REVIT but not essential.Excellent communication skills and ability to interface with architects and fellow designersConfident to work independently as PH discipline lead driving project deliverables forward and capable of managing junior members of staffHighly motivated with the drive to take on new challengesEffective organisation, attention to detail and leadership capability Ability to review and validate PH and Sprinkler technical design outputs.Outstanding interpersonal and communication skills.Strong presentation and communication skills.Confident delivering complex projects and advising stakeholdersGood understanding of British and European Standards/UK Regulations/CodesGood understanding of international working and business operations of a global consultancy.BenefitsRED offers a variety of benefits, including but not limited to:23 days annual leave rising to 28 days annual leave over 5 years’ serviceHoliday purchase and buy back schemeHybrid WorkingContributory company pension schemeHealthcare Scheme (Company funded cover is dependant on level)Non-contractual bonus awardsTraining sponsorshipCharity volunteering leaveWellness days/ initiatives.Salary commensurate with experience.Our people work in friendly teams with a collaborative approach and mentoring support from talented leaders.We offer a comprehensive benefits package and are an equal opportunities employer.*This role will ideally suit those with the right to live & work in the UK without restrictions.RED is a company of Tractebel.
