My client is a well-established and highly regarded manufacturer within the power distribution and switchgear sector, supplying critical electrical infrastructure across the UK and internationally. Due to continued growth, they are looking to strengthen their aftersales team with experienced Field Service Engineers at multiple levels.

The Role – Field Service Engineer You'll play a key role in supporting customers across the UK, carrying out fault finding, maintenance, and technical investigations on switchgear and associated equipment.
This isn't just a travelling role — when you're not on site, you'll stay hands-on in the workshop, supporting build, wiring, and testing. It keeps your skills sharp and gives you a full understanding of the equipment.
What you'll be doing Field Service (Primary focus)
Respond to customer issues during standard working hours
Carry out fault finding, repairs, and technical investigations
Deliver reactive and planned maintenance on switchgear systems
Complete service tasks including: Relay testing
VT/CT checks
Component replacements
Mechanical adjustments
Produce reports, RAMS, and documentation
Build strong working relationships with customers on site
Workshop / Production (when not on site)
Panel wiring and electrical assembly
Building switchgear and protection/control panels
Supporting testing and inspections
General workshop support
Travel UK-wide role
Working away Monday to Friday
Jobs range from day visits to full working weeks away

Experience Levels Field Service Engineer (£37k–£41.5k)
2–5 years' experience
Confident fault finding and servicing
Comfortable working independently on site
Relay/VT/CT functional checks; RAMS; customer facing
Senior Field Service Engineer (£41.5k–£45k)
5+ years' experience
Leads jobs and supports junior engineers
Strong diagnostics and customer-facing ability
Leads reactive jobs; trains juniors; liaises with OEM/clients; complex diagnostics
Aftersales Coordinator level (£43k–£47k)
Senior-level experience
Involved in planning, report quality, and stakeholder management
Regional cover owner; schedules day-cover rota; quality owner for reports/RAMS; stakeholder management.
What they're looking for Essential
NVQ / City & Guilds Level 2 or 3 in Electrical Installation xwzovoh (or similar)
Strong electrical fault finding and maintenance experience
Background in industrial electrical systems or switchgear
Able to work independently and manage site work
Willing to travel and stay away during the week
IT competent (reports, Outlook, Excel)
Desirable
Experience with MV switchgear or protection & control panels
Relay testing experience
18th Edition
Working Hours Monday – Thursday: 08:00 – 17:00
Friday: 08:00 – 13:00
Occasional later finishes on Fridays depending on travel
Package £37,000 – £47,000 basic salary
